How to read the type chart
Start with the attacking move on the left, then follow its row to the defending type along the top. A 2 means super effective damage; ½ means half damage. A 0 means the defender is immune.
For a dual-type Pokémon, multiply both matchups. Water/Ground takes 2× from Grass against each type, for 4× overall. Ground’s immunity makes Electric damage 0×.

Why do older games have different type charts?
Generation 1 has 15 types and several different matchups. Dark and Steel were added in Generation 2. Fairy arrived in Generation 6, when Steel also lost its Ghost and Dark resistances.
Does this calculate final battle damage?
No. It shows type effectiveness. Abilities, items, STAB, weather, move exceptions and battle effects are not included.
What does the attacking view show?
It shows the best matchup of your selected move types against each single defending type. It does not multiply the two attacking types.
